What is lining drain repair?
Lining drain repair can often be referred to as a “no dig” or trench less pipe replacement. This involves putting a liner that comes with a resin that can be inserted in a vertical or horizontal drain. Lining can be used on any pipes from 100mm to 1.8 meters in diameter.
As soon as the liner is put into the pipe, this liner will be turned inside out, forced through with water or air pressure. Once done, it can be pushed out, bonding with the pipe’s interior (during this process, the resin will either be cured or hardened).
Effectively, this method creates a new pipe within an older pipe. When it is not possible to excavate,
repair or replace broken or collapsed pipes, this is an alternative. Once this process has been
completed, the integrity of the drain or the sewer can be restored.
What about costs?
Initially, lining drain repair can cost more upfront due to the specific skills involved. However, this only refers to the cost of someone having the necessary training and equipment.
What this does not take into account are the additional costs that can come with repair work-
excavation can involve additional digging as well as dealing with what needs to be dug up above the pipe that needs to be replaced.
What do I need to do?
It is better to contact a drainage company as early as possible, preferably when you first spot any potential problems. It may be that you just need to clear a small blockage or some minor repairs need to be done. If it is less obvious what the issue is, we can use CCTV surveys to get a closer look. After that, more extensive work like replacement lining may be necessary.
When it comes to the work itself, we will discuss what needs to be done and all of the costs involved.
At Shell Drainage, we strictly work on a fixed rate basis, as we believe this reflects the reliable nature of the repair work that we do.
